The cocoa fruit is the pod that contains the seeds of the cocoa tree (Theobroma cacao). These seeds are known as cocoa beans and are the main raw material for the production of chocolate.
The fruit has an elongated shape, generally yellow, orange or red, and inside the pod there are white, juicy pulps that surround the grains.
The harvesting and fermentation of these beans are crucial processes in developing the flavor of chocolate.
